Nov. 25 - Got word from Scalextric USA that the Lola MG's and one of the Toyota F1's will not make it to the U.S. in time for Christmas....darn!....They also said the new Boss Mustangs should be in the U.S. about a week before Christmas!!
Anyone notice Fly keeps releasing new cars & liveries not in their 2002 catalog...What I'd like to know is...Where are the cars they were SUPPOSED to come out with???
Oct. 6 - Scalextric USA got in another handful of Slotit Audi R8's and are dolling them out again to their retailers...Look for them on your retailers shelves next week (While they Last).
Oct. 5 - Jon at Rad Trax has taken over for Ken Marx in running the website intending to keep it in it's overall present form.
All pages are intact with some upgrades, repairs and additions...E-Mail to webmaster@slotcargarage.com is bouncing for the moment...This should be fixed on Monday afternoon, Oct. 7th.(FIXED)
I will update the site on a "somewhat regular" basis...:-)
A thanks to Ken for all the hard work he put into this site over the years!
Wow, busy bee!!! I have been busy with some personal things and all - nothing to worry about so I haven't been able to keep up to date on things but from checking around the slot car world - all I got to say is WOW! Seems like a ton of stuff popping up for 2002 in new items, great new magazine Model Car Racing, some great new slot car websites, etc. All in all it looks like the new golden age of slot cars is upon us so let's all hang on and enjoy the ride. Check the reviews section and the articles section for posted stuff as I will try to keep those updated.
Happy New Year!!! There is a ton of stuff to look forward to in 2002 with the classic 70 Mustang and 69 Camaro 1/32 slot cars coming from Scalextric, their new updated track system, the MRRC-DS Drag Racing system, and more!!!
More from Harry I wish to thank Harry Wise for donating his articles to Slot Car Garage, they are great! Check out his piece about low cost tree making for you scenery buffs.
Carrera Strikes Out! I can't believe Carrera of Germany did NOT allocate enough of the special issue 1/32 1965 Mustang and 1967 Corvette slot cars :( Hope they get more here as the Mustang looks awesome and that's the main one that's out too from many places.
Artin Stuff Seems that www.kbkids.com had the 1/32 wireless controller Formula One set and then was sold out. Don't know if they got any more in. I checked my local Boscov's Department store and boy they are cleaned out of their Artin 1/32 sets. They only have one old F-1 set left (the big one with the lap counter) and one smaller Porsche GT1 set. All the rest which were about twenty of them locally are all gone, wow!
What to expect for 2002 in 1/32 scale? Looks
like the 1/32 scale segment is still growing and growing, HO is more in it's
own now and nothing is really being pushed except from the aftermarket
companies. 1/32 seems to be more popular sales-wise at the moment.
Now onto the cars, from FLY we expect to finally see the Ford GT40, possibly
the Saleen S7 Super Car, a Ford Mustang (don't know the year) - hope it is
NOT the same style as the Carrera or Scalextric, could be the early 80s
model IMSA race like the Capri, and some trucks plus different color schemes
on other models. For Cartrix, there is the Hyundai Accent, yes
Hyundai. For MRRC, the awesome AC Cobra is available again. We
get to see some neat stuff from GB Track, hopefully muscle cars from MRRC
and clubman kits using the old Monogram molds like the Porsche 904 GTS,
ProSlot looks to be doing some vintage racers and a GT40 as well plus a
Lamborghini Miura (maybe?) and others...
Have to wait to see if this stuff is really coming out as all of this is
just speculation at the moment to see how well they are accepted.
Monogram-Revell is said to be getting back into slot cars as well with
highly detailed can-am models for 1/32 scale and possibly their old track
the Monogram type as well. What I would suggest is for them to stick
with cars only and probably sell someone else's track with their cars since
there is plenty of track systems out there already, why have another one to
mess with. Just flood the market too much. Its cool about
Scalextric doing the 1969 Mustang and Camaro as they are going to be trans
am cars at the then possibly they can release street versions of them.
