ARII 1/32 motorized model kit
Needed for Conversion
Plafit or similar Mabuchi S 12volt slot car motor (can-drive) and 1/8 post guide flag
Optional Parts
FLY Magnet
Total Cost
About $28.00 US

This model kit was simple to put together.  I do not know how easy these are to get a hold of because I won this one at eBay.  I am sure of one other model they made in this series (a Toyota GTP).  The car handles great for a direct model kit conversion and the stock tires that came in the kit grip well.  It was fairly simple to use a hand drill to clean out the front hole in the chassis to mount the guide flag.  Just need to clear some plastic away from its path so it could move more freely.

I replaced the low voltage battery type Mabuchi S motor with the Plafit slot car Rabbit motor for better reliability and power.  I didn't want to burn out the motor with my first test drive.  For a quick example of this car's speed:  A SCX 1/32 Mazda GTP with the SRS2 chassis ran a best of 6.033 secs for a lap while testing with this ARII car doing a best lap time of 6.503 seconds.  I know 5 tenths of a second can mean a lot in winning a race but the total time for ten laps with the SCX car took 1:12.407 with the ARII car getting it done in 1:10.808  You be the judge but I like this car and plan on getting some more when the opportunity opens up :)
