Slot Car Projects

1/24 1977 Monte Carlo Lowrider Slot Car

SCG Site Menu:

Check out some of Slot Car Garage's projects that are planned for the future and are being worked on at the moment.  Most of these slot cars are created from model kits and other various sources.

The vintage 1/24 scale slot cars are pretty high in price like the Pontiac GTO, Charger, Mustang, etc. plus new ones like the current Mustang, Camaro, etc. are not released as scale looking 1/24 slot cars.  It is better in the long run to convert over model kits for running on your true 1/24 scale slot car track like Carrera, Sears - Marx, etc.

1989 Camaro ASA Racer - Black Project Car

I got this body unit in a trade without any decals or other parts.  It still looks nice and mounts on a Parma FCR 4inch chassis.  I plan on making some decals for it and make it a "stock car" racer like ASA or other racing organization.

1997 Ford Expedition 1/24 How-To Project  Are you looking to build up something different for your 1/24 slot car layout such as Carrera?  Here is a neat Ford Expedition project using Revell-Monogram's model kit and a Parma FCR chassis.  Read the details about this project to see how it's done so you can create one yourself.

1996 Mustang Cobra Convertible 1/24 How-To  By looking at the FCR chassis guide, you can tell that this body style fits the 4 inch wheelbase Parma FCR inline chassis.  This will be the basis of our conversion for this model kit into a decent looking 1/24 slot car.

You can also use this guide if you are going to use the 1999 Mustang Cobra, 1994-95 Mustang GTs and Boss models, etc. since all of these share basically the same body style and shape so they will fit the Parma #577 4inch wheelbase FCR chassis with ease.

1995 Mustang GT 1/24 How-To  As stated above, here another example of how you can create a nice 1/24 slot car from a model kit.  These earlier kits from Monogram (now Revell-Monogram) came molded in color so they do not need much painting.  The 1994 Mustang GT kit came in yellow and the later issue 1995 Mustang GT kit, same as the 1994 one except it was molded in blue.  Check out the project so you can make your own.
