Test Drive Observations:
Looks like everyone under the sun including their brother has done a review of this car recently after it's release...the early editions such as mine came with a weight and the current issue of the car has a neodymium traction magnet. I was turned off by the floating motor pod in the initial release ProSlot 1/32 Porsche car. The car would not handle and drive like it should have.
This new Toyota 1/32 slot car looks to be detailed similar to a Ninco car with some imperfections here and there. Not really up to the quality of a FLY brand 1/32 slot car. It does look good overall but I would prefer another paint scheme than this one. Getting the car out onto the track and driving it around gives me the insight into why this chassis was updated with the magnet instead of the weight. If you are used to driving without magnets, this car would be fine. You will not be happy if you like to drive with magnet cars. Both of the versions of the car can be easily changed to accommodate a weight or magnet.
The handling characteristics of the car produces a ton of over-steer which is ok if you like that kind of driving. I doubt many people would prefer fishtailing the back end wasting time rather than speeding down the straight. When I floored the throttle for the long straight, the car fishtailed a bit similar to what a non-magnet car would do but being it having a plastic chassis the car is very light in the rear. Here is where I would add some weight to improve the handling without the use of magnets.
The inline chassis (shown here) has a type of the floating motor pod unit similar to what they used in their other cars. I think this is one area they need to take back to the drawing boards. Hopefully, with some tuning on your own you can do something with it but I think it is more of an added feature for looks rather than anything else. A better idea would be a floating rear chassis unit with wheels and motor that would pivot from the main chassis unit with a magnet up front for better control. The rear tires are wide rubber type slicks similar to the tires FLY uses so they provide pretty good traction but need weight or a magnet to help them on the track.
ProSlot is trying to get into the 1/32 home racing market with their cars but they need a long way to go. The car's construction needs some better quality control with some bleeding of various paint and other minor details. My rear wing also came loose with a very minor wreck which should not happen the first time out to the track.
So because of all of the problems with the handling of the car and the quality of the fit and finish results in the only 3 out of 5 tires rating for this slot car.

3 out of 5 tires
I added a #SICN01 Slot.It Neodimium(sic) Traction Magnet and some Slick7 stick-on weight to improve the handling of this car. The results are below:
Test Drive Results - Ten Lap Sprint: Previous Times in Parenthesis
| Lane | Best Lap Time | Average Lap Time | Chronometer |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 5.151 (6.036) | 5.621 (8.349) | 0:59.325 (1:28.132) |

As you can tell by the Lap Times, the Magnet upgrade along with some added weight to the rear of the car drastically improved the laps times for not much money. This way, you can make the ProSlot Toyota GT1 competitive with other 1/32 cars. I was told by Jon at RadTrax that it is their fastest 1/32 slot car there at the shop with the magnet upgrade.
The car handled great with the magnet and weight with only some slight signs of fish-tailing around the course. The motor is still very strong with the added drag of the magnet. I would recommend upgrading to a magnet instead of the weight if you are interested in racing against FLY 1/32 slot cars like the Viper or Venturi.
I will still stick to my 3 out of 5 tires rating for this car even with the magnet upgrade and extra weight added to the rear of the chassis. I think ProSlot could do better without their "floating motor pod" chassis design. It is unique but makes no performance upgrades to the car because of it. Basically the pod design takes away some speed and handling from the chassis. It could have been designed a little better...hopefully their next design will be better.
