Test Drive Observations:
From what I heard, the Porsche 908 from FLY is one of their fastest in the Classic Series line. I had to get one to see for myself. FLY always does a great job on the body with a nicely done finish and great detailing. There is a excellent modeled non-functional rear suspension unit you can see from the rear, detailed engine piece, chrome gas caps, and a full-figure realistic driver in the cockpit.
The chassis is the common FLY sidewinder design with a neodymium traction magnet similar to the other chassis just molded differently to fit the Porsche 908/3 body. You will also nice the detailed treaded sticky type silicone wide tires on the rear with similar types on the front as well. The wheels and white-lined tires are also nicely done with Firestone markings. All in all this car is a beauty like all of those other FLY cars. Too bad we can't get them to do a muscle car or street car, it would outshine the Carrera ones :)
I expected the car to perform like the other FLY Classic Series or ones from FLY but this one handled a bit unexpectedly but still a joy to drive. The wide rear slicks hooked up well to the track as they should with the magnet helping out in the traction department. The motor is well suited to the traction. Starting out you can get the car up to speed pretty easily without getting the feeling the car is bogged down. The short wheelbase helps you whip the car around the curves with ease slowing down just a bit to avoid spinning out or fishtailing (oversteer). If you do try to push it to the limits going around curves, you will either oversteer or understeer (pop out of the slot) but it has a high breaking point to do this. This car is fun to drive and I love it, one of the best from the Classic Series. The small wheelbase, wide tires in the rear, and the magnets helps you stay on track without much trouble. It will cause you to enjoy racing it rather than trying to drive it. A very fast little Porsche :)
So with examining the body, taking it out on the track, and finally evaluating it against the other cars that I reviewed before it - the car gets a 5 out of 5 tires rating which lets me give it a SCG Best Buy label!!! You can zip this baby around the track and still have fun doing it. Highly recommended!!!
