NINCO Mosler MT900 R 'Gulf'
Review
By Shawn Smith
Appearance:

Gulf blue and orange! Talk about a famous combination of colors. And as you might expect this livery has been
anticipated, as witnessed in numerous message board conversations, ever since the livery was first announced.

This car is simply a model I had to have, mostly due to my own fondness for the paint job, yet also because
I was impressed with the performance of both the initial 'Xavex'
version as well as the second released 'Kenmore'
edition of the car.

Now finally here... I couldn't be happier with the looks of the model. Purists may question the authenticity of the
colors, especially the shade of orange, yet for my personal enjoyment the colors look great! The large orange center stripe
is framed by a dark blue pin-striping painted over the light blue base coat.

Then, painted on top of all of that, graphics including the 'Gulf' logos, sponsor graphics and SuperGT number
plates decorate the rest of the car and do a good job of trying to look like the life sized version.

Certain details have been modeled liberally, such as the size of the mirrors in relation to images of the 1:1
prototype, although the 'larger than life' mirrors have already proven in my testing to stand up to impact far better than I
imagine perfectly scaled mirrors would.

The large rear wing has also withstood several decent impacts during my testing and thankfully has remained intact.
On my personal wish list from NINCO; the tailights of the Mosler scream out for a light kit... something I may have to install
on my own until more NINCO cars come with lights.

Rims for this 'Gulf' Mosler are a gold painted BBS style, identical to the 'Kenmore' version linked to above. Behind
each of the rims are grooved brake rotor details modeled in silver.

Performance:

Because performance information can be found in the review of the 'Xavex'
car I won't bore anyone again by telling it over. I have however included the image of the chassis above to assure fans
that nothing has changed and this Mosler will perform to the standards set by the earlier releases.

Gearing has remained the same, the NC-5 motor continues with this model and the same cylindrical button magnet helps
provide downforce for the Mosler on plastic home tracks.

One point of interest that 'could' impact performance, was a noticable amount of rubber flashing left over from the
tire making process. If for any reason some vibration is detected in your model be sure to check each rim for flashing then
make certain to also check the tires for left over material that may prohibit the tire from properly seating on the wheel.

The Final Verdict:

With everything all checked out the only real change for this release is of course the paint job but it is one that
I and many others have been looking forward to. In any case the Mosler remains one of the best in NINCOs SuperGT line up and
I really like these cars for their on track performance. With the 'Gulf' livery now being the third in the series there should
be a model that appeals to almost anyone and if I know NINCO more are likely to be made. At least I hope so...
Special thanks to MRC – Model Rectifier Corp for providing
the new NINCO Mosler 'Gulf' for review. As always, feel free to contact me if you have any additional
questions and I will be happy to answer anything that I can. Happy Slotting!
