Brass T-jet Front Wheel Set

There is plenty of performance stuff being produced now for the old 1960s era Aurora Thunderjet chassis.  With Model Motoring Inc. and Playing Mantis reproducing these "retro" HO slot cars, many people are back in the hobby again.

This item was review on my special 2 lane Tomy HO layout with intersection.

Test Drive Observations:

gtob.jpg (7867 bytes)Wizzard HO has come out with some brass independent front wheel sets that give some weight to the Aurora Thunderjet chassis.  The numbers you see above was from a stock Aurora Thunderjet chassis.  The first test was run with some Road Monkey silicones and then the chassis was modified with the Wizzard Brass Front Wheels and the Wizzard T-jet tires I reviewed previously.

69gtoa.jpg (6432 bytes)The lap times dropped about one second with the updates to the chassis.  I do plan to change the magnets to the Super II Yellow / Blue ones to see how this will affect the lap times.  I am not looking for something as fast as a Tyco 440X2 but with good speed and handling.  The car ran well but I just have to watch when running "non-magnet" cars since I have tight turns in some of the areas.

The Wizzard Front Wheel Sets do seem to add some little weight to the front to keep the understeer under control and I didn't have it jumping out of the slot much, just some oversteer.  For a stock T-jet, I wouldn't expect it to cut your lap times much unless you upgrade things such as rear tires and magnets, etc.  The only other problem is that the front wheels stick out wider than the stock ones so it is best to use some wider tires out back such as the Wizzard ones or a set from Model Motoring Inc.

Slot Car Garage Review Rating:  3½ out of 5 tires!!!
